After coming on strong at the end of last season to win the program’s 22nd national title, North Carolina’s women’s soccer team is out to prove itself yet again with a tough 2013 schedule.
The Tar Heels will face 2012 NCAA Tournament teams in 12 of their 19 regular-season matchups.
UNC’s preseason will include three tournaments sponsored by Nike, one of which, the Carolina Nike Classic, will be hosted at UNC’s Fetzer Field beginning Aug. 30.
UNC kicks off its ACC schedule against Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., before its conference home opener against ACC newcomer and perennial national title contender Notre Dame.
On Halloween, the Tar Heels will conclude their home season with a game against Duke at 7 p.m.
