The Lowdown on Tuesday's Basketball Game

Keys for UNC: Stop taking quick 3-pointers. In the preseason and Hampton contests, the Tar Heels showed that they aren't afraid to take an open 3. Problem is, they aren't making them. In the first half on Friday, UNC was 4 of 21 behind the arc. If the Tar Heels can't get the ball inside, their perimeter shooting has to drastically improve for them to win games.

Keys for Davidson: Zone. As Friday's game proved, North Carolina struggles when it can't get the ball inside to Kris Lang. Lang was 6 of 12 from the floor; Hampton's ability to collapse inside really limited his good touches.

UNC Bench: Off the bench, the Tar Heels need a big rebounding performance from Will Johnson and smarter shot selection from the freshmen. Down the stretch Friday, Jackie Manuel had a key assist and used his athletism to help keep UNC in the game.

Davidson Bench: The Davidson bench contributed eight points -- all from Conor Grace -- in the Wildcats' 65-51 loss to Charlotte. Sophomore Jouni Eho missed all of his six shots off the bench.

Prediction: UNC 72 , Davidson 67
