In 1995, No. 2 North Carolina went to Cameron Indoor Stadium to face a Duke team unlike any in recent history -- a bad one. The Blue Devils were struggling mightily, and Coach Mike Krzyzewski sat out the last 19 games with back problems.
Heading into the UNC game, interim coach Pete Gaudet's squad was just 10-9, 0-7 in the ACC. But on Feb. 2, records didn't seem to matter.
UNC led by 17 early, but Duke fought back in the second half. Regulation ended in an 81-81 tie.
UNC held a three-point lead with four seconds left in overtime, but Jeff Capel connected on a desperation half-court heave as time expired to send the game into a second overtime.
At the end of the second OT, Duke's Steve Wojciechowski's 14-footer just missed, and UNC escaped with the 102-100 win.
