The 6-foot-8 forward, who leads the team in scoring and rebounding, got the concussion while diving for a loose ball.
North Carolina trainer Marc Davis listed Capel as doubtful for tonight's game, but Capel will be reevaluated this morning.
Capel leads the ACC in rebounds at 10.3 per game and is seventh in the league in scoring at 16.8 points per game.
In Saturday's home loss against Virginia, Capel made 5 of 13 shots, including 1 of 6 3-pointers, en route to 14 points. He also tallied nine rebounds and five assists in 35 minutes of play.
On the year, Capel has started each of the Tar Heels' 13 games and is averaging 34.7 minutes per game.
During his career at North Carolina, Capel has played in 108 games, including 85 consecutive games. He hasn't sat out a game since March 5, 1999, when back spasms forced him out of an ACC Tournament game against Georgia Tech.
