The UNC distance medley relay team ran a school record time of 11 minutes, 0.33 seconds to defend its DMR Championship of America title.
The DMR team of Flanagan, Erin Donohue, Anissa Gainey and Alice Schmidt finished almost 10 seconds ahead of second-place Stanford and beat the old UNC mark by almost three seconds.
Flanagan also teamed with Schmidt, Donohue and Carol Henry to win the 6,000 relay. The Tar Heels ran a 17:33.67 to beat second-place Stanford (17:36.66) by three seconds.
Laura Gerraughty took first place in the championship division of the shot put with a throw of 56 feet, 4 inches and first place in the college hammer division with a distance of 192-11.
UNC throwers Sal Gigante and Vikas Gowda placed third and fourth in the discus championship at 183-11 and 181-4, respectively. Gigante also took ninth in the championship hammer at 194-7, and Ian Douglas finished sixth in the shot put championship with a distance of 60-6.
Adam Shunk finished in a third-place tie in the high jump championship with a height of 7-1, and Blair Woodward took third in the college long jump at 24-5. Liz Awtrey placed third in the 3000-meter steeplechase championship with a time of 10:29.10.
Women's Lacrosse Wins a Pair
HANOVER, N.H. -- Kellie Thompson scored three goals as the No. 3 UNC women's lacrosse team defeated No. 13 Dartmouth 11-6 Sunday. The win was the 10th in a row for North Carolina, which won its first ACC championship last weekend.
UNC (15-2) scored the first five goals of the game in a span of 6:02. UNC's Thompson and Dartmouth's Alison Moulin traded goals to start the second half, but the Tar Heels scored the next four for an 11-3 advantage with 18:41 to play. The loss dropped Dartmouth to 10-5.
