Tar Heels rebound with win

No. 5 North Carolina rebounded from an overtime loss to Maryland a week ago by blowing out Georgia Tech 104-74 Saturday in the Smith Center. Tyler Hansbrough led all scorers with 28 and Danny Green dropped 20 as the Tar Heels recorded 26 assists in the win.

The Tar Heels (25-3 11-3 in the ACC) reached the 25-win mark for the third straight year while Georgia Tech (10-17 1-13) dropped its seventh straight.

Hansbrough also set the NCAA record for career free throws made in the second half. Hansbrough passed Dickie Hemric with the 906th converted free throw of his career" and he eventually made one more to go 8-8 on Saturday.

""It means a lot" Hansbrough said of breaking the record. Those are some great players up there and for me to be at that top spot it's an honor. But also it's a lot of hard work. There's a lot of fouls involved and it also shows you have a good free throw percentage" so I'm happy to be there.""
