COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS -- The North Carolina women's soccer team won its 20th NCAA national title Sunday at Aggie Soccer Stadium, defeating Stanford 1-0.

The Cardinal entered the match with a perfect 25-0 record.

UNC got on the board after just two minutes and 50 seconds of play when Casey Nogueira found Jessica McDonald seven yards out for the only score of the game.

Stanford played a much tougher second half, getting seven shots as opposed to two in the first half. But the Cardinal's top scorer Kelley O'Hara received two yellow cards in a four-minute span, putting them down a player for the remaining 18 minutes of the match.

UNC staved off a furious attack by Stanford in the closing minutes to win its second straight title and third in the last four years.

Casey Nogueira was named Offensive MVP while Whitney Engen was tabbed as the Defensive MVP of the College Cup.
