The Daily Tar Heel

TO THE EDITOR:

It has been a little more than one year since the highly publicized inauguration of President Obama. Since 2009, President Obama has introduced wide-sweeping economic reform legislation, has negotiated multiple nuclear arms treaties, has brought major change in the tone of U.S.-international relations and has created a national focus on health care.

On behalf of the Young Democrats, I would like to encourage all to watch the president’s State of the Union address tonight at 9 p.m. (Most major networks will cover it.)

Whether you are an avid supporter or a hardened critic, the speech will cover a lot of important issues facing our country in the new year, especially the administration’s new focus on cutting the budget deficit and predictions for the future of health care reform. It will be an insightful, exciting night, and I hope you all will join me in participating in it.

Michael Foote
Vice President
