TO THE EDITOR:

Kappa Delta Sorority hosted the 17th Annual Shamrock ‘n’ Run 5K on Saturday to raise an estimated $50,000 for the prevention of child abuse. With more than 1,000 registrants, the race was more successful than ever before.

Eighty percent of the money raised through the 5K will be given to the Center for Child and Family Health in Durham, and the remaining 20 percent will be given to the national Prevent Child Abuse America organization.

Additionally, KD transformed its annual pre-race dinner into the first-ever certified green event in the Carolina Greek community. The Go Green! Shamrock Dinner was held on Thursday and raised more than $3,600. Kappa Delta would like to thank everyone who participated in these events and donated to this great cause.
