A federal judge decided today to not allow the trial for Demario Atwater to be moved out of state.
Public defenders for Atwater, who is charged with killing former Student Body President Eve Carson, asked in December to move the trial out of state after reports that more than 80 percent of North Carolina residents were familiar with the case.
The attorneys argued that the jury pool would be tainted.
The judge wrote that it was still possible for Atwater to have a fair trial. Read the full decision.
