TO THE EDITOR:

Next year will be the biggest year ever for UNC Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County. Be a part of groundbreaking history for our University in a way that has never been tried before.

August is the official kickoff of UNC Build a Block, in which groups and departments from across the community will come together to raise more than $350,000 and build 10 Habitat for Humanity homes for UNC and UNC Health Care employees who currently live in substandard housing.

We are now soliciting applications to be the Build a Block liaison on the UNC Habitat for Humanity Steering Committee. This position would entail regular meetings between deans, department chairmen, other upper level administrators in the University and Habitat for Humanity. This person will also be responsible for helping plan and execute the ribbon cutting ceremony in the spring of 2011 — including hundreds of UNC community members.

Contact the current liaison, Megan Jones, at wmjones@email.unc.edu for more information or an application. Applications are due by April 16 and interviews are tentatively scheduled for April 22.
