Students should come out to support football team

TO THE EDITOR:

The 2010 UNC Spring Game will be held on Saturday in Kenan Stadium. It will be televised by ESPN, and multiple prizes will be given away to students and everyone else in attendance.

However, this is not a letter advertising the Spring Game. Rather, it’s a letter asking, pleading and demanding that the entire UNC community comes out to support the football program on Saturday.

I could pontificate about how the students need to get on the bandwagon now, how 2010 will be a banner year for the football program, how there are multiple outlets who are not only excited about the UNC Spring Game, but are rabidly awaiting its arrival so they can get their first look at the vaunted defense or the improved offense.

But I’m not going to. Instead, I’m going to ask that the student body support its fellow UNC students who are on the football team as they culminate their spring practice with an event that has never been done at UNC before. I hope to see you there.
