The Daily Tar Heel

The North Carolina softball team has earned a No. 2 seed in the Seattle Regional of the upcoming NCAA Women’s College World Series.

The announcement comes after an 8-0 loss to Georgia Tech on Friday in the second round of the ACC Championship.

Before losing to the Yellow Jackets, the Tar Heels beat N.C. State 7-1 on Friday in the first round of the ACC Championship. It was the second time that UNC beat the Wolfpack this season, and marks the second time out of the past six meetings that the Tar Heels have defeated the Wolfpack in ACC Championship play.

North Carolina will face Nebraska on Friday at 5:30 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on ESPNU. The winner will move on to face North Dakota State or defending national champion Washington on Saturday.
