The Daily Tar Heel

TO THE EDITOR:

This letter is to the entire UNC football program. We have enjoyed watching the program grow over the past few years and enjoyed the ride you have taken us on. However, we as a student body and faculty are hurt by what has transpired over the past few months with the NCAA inquiries.

I have always been proud to call myself a Tar Heel because Tar Heels hold themselves to a certain code of ethics and honesty. I think what we as students are most upset about is not the possibility of losing or forfeiting games. What we are upset about the most is that our athletics program has had a stellar record on the playing field and it has done it the right way. That reputation is now tarnished. That is not what being a Tar Heel is about. I wish every member of the football program well in whatever they do in life, but at UNC we will not accept dishonesty, and we will not pull for cheaters.
