The Daily Tar Heel

TO THE EDITOR:

In response to “Ryan Hilliard is the right choice for State Senate” (Oct. 12), I had held the seemingly false assumption that the DTH was above printing what amounts to a political flyer whose content is as original as a Google suggested search result. I will not make such a hasty assumption again.

It’s all well and good to print letters promoting campus organizations, upcoming events related to Chapel Hill or the University, or an issue that one feels is underrepresented, but selling out space in the paper so that Ms. Christiansen (who, unsurprisingly, can be found commenting on ResistNet.com, the “Home of Patriotic Resistance,” and is a GOP coordinator for Person County) can churn out overdone and therefore meaningless political battle cries is another matter.

If the DTH wishes to present such political messages, it should devote an entire day of letters to politics, so that each message can compete with one another and be equally misplaced.
