TO THE EDITOR:
The Class of 2011 is the last group of students who were enrolled when Eve Carson was killed.
We are the last class left on campus that experienced the pain and confusion surrounding her death, but we are also the last class that experienced firsthand Eve’s leadership, vibrancy and passion for the Carolina Way.
The classes below us have heard about Eve and her legacy, but we are the last class to have had the privilege of being a part of a community led by such an incredible example of everything we believe.
That being said, it is the responsibility of the senior class to carry on Eve’s celebration of the Carolina Way and, equally as important, to teach it to the classes below us. Let us not allow her legacy to graduate with us!
So, as one student body, let us gather again this year for a celebration of Eve Carson and the Carolina Way. The 3rd Annual Eve Carson Memorial 5K for Education is this Saturday, Nov. 6. What a way for the senior class to teach the underclassmen what we’re all about!
I encourage everyone to register at www.educationforeve.com and to join us in celebrating Eve Carson, the Carolina Way and the continuation of all that is great at this University.
