The Daily Tar Heel

TO THE EDITOR:

Thanks to the Daily Tar Heel and all of our community partners for your help during the month of October to “Turn the Town Pink” to support UNC’s Comprehensive Cancer Support Program.

This community’s generosity helps us make a difference for someone who is at a time in his life when he needs all of the help he can get to fight cancer.

We don’t have final totals, but our community is on track to raise more than $30,000 by decorating businesses and websites in pink, creating in-store campaigns, selling specialty items, or donating food, drink and auction items in support of UNC Lineberger’s Tickled Pink at Twilight event.

From six-year-old Maddie Moore to residents at Galloway Ridge, running stores to restaurants, real estate offices and radio stations — this community stepped up to help those who need it most.

Patients and families can tell you that our programs are a source of valuable information, understanding, help and essential therapies for those facing a battle with cancer. Many of these services are offered to patients free of charge, relieving anxiety at an already stressful time.

Thank you to all of our Chapel Hill and Carrboro community members and partners who Turned the Town Pink to make a difference.
