Dick Mann to step down in June

Dick Mann, the University’s vice chancellor for finance and administration, plans to step down this summer.

Chancellor Holden Thorp announced at the faculty council meeting today that Mann, who has served at UNC since 2006, plans to retire June 30. Thorp said a search committee will be formed to look for a candidate to fill the position. If it is not filled by July 1, Thorp said he will create an interim position or attempt to convince Mann to stay on until it is filled.

But he said the search should go quickly and conclude on time.

Prior to his arrival at UNC, Mann served for 10 years as vice president for administration at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, as well as a 20-year stint at the University of Kansas.

His duties at UNC involved overseeing the financial and administrative operations of the University.
