Banning guns on campus violates the Constitution

TO THE EDITOR:

In response to “Guns on campus neither acceptable nor necessary” (March 14), I would ask if that applies to the First Amendment also. Bad people do bad things and “gun free zones” are not going to stop them.

Calls for guns on campus are not meant to do anything more than allow those with conceal carry permits to move about without regard to unreasonable restrictions. Where does it say that a person has to give up a constitutionally guaranteed right simply because they go to college?
