Police log for March 15, 2011

  • Someone turned a door knob at 4:30 a.m. Monday at 700 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., according to Chapel Hill police reports.
  • Someone was seen riding a bike, pulling a lawn mower at 10:54 p.m. Saturday at South Merritt Mill Road, according to Chapel Hill police reports.
  • Two men used a ladder to climb onto a roof at 1:34 a.m. Monday at 742 Gimghoul Road, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Nothing was reported stolen. Charles Graham, 18, of Concord, was charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering and first degree trespassing at 1:35 a.m. Monday at the scene of the crime, reports state. He was released on a $500 unsecured bond. Matthew Patterson Covington, 34, of Chapel Hill, was arrested for misdemeanor breaking and entering at 4:08 a.m. Monday, reports state. He was released on a $1,000 unsecured bond, reports state.
  • Someone stole $3,700 from Pi Lambda Phi at 11:52 p.m. Sunday at 110 W. Cameron Ave., according to Chapel Hill police reports.
  • Two people were assaulted in the downtown area early Monday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Someone was assaulted at 12:37 a.m. Monday at 112 W. Franklin St., reports state. Someone also punched another person in the face around 1:03 a.m. Monday at West Rosemary Street, reports state.
  • Someone attempted to steal a pair of hair clippers, threatened an employee and was trespassed from Walgreens at 3:58 p.m. Sunday at 108 E. Franklin St., according to Chapel Hill police reports.
