Steven Leath, UNC-system vice president of research, has been named the 15th president of Iowa State University.
The Iowa Board of Regents chose Leath Tuesday evening over the other presidential finalist — University of Kentucky Provost Kumble Subbaswamy, according to ISU’s press release.
Leath has worked within the UNC system since 2007
Leath’s appointment will be effective Feb. 1, 2012. He will be paid $440,000, according to the press release.
