The Daily Tar Heel

TO THE EDITOR:
I thank the residents of the Hinton James, Horton, Koury, and Ehringhaus residence halls that took the time to write in my name for one of their Student Congress Representatives during the election Tuesday.

I am extremely proud that I was not defeated by ‘A Large Ham Sandwich.’

I pledge to serve your interests and make myself accountable to each one of you. I endeavor to make the actions of your student congress, and the other branches of your student government, more publicized to the University.

I emphasize ‘your’ because it is, ultimately, your student government. The hubbub generated by the recent elections concerning the perceived ineffectiveness of student government smacks of ignorance and apathy.

If you truly believe your student government is ineffective, act upon your beliefs. Student Congress holds meetings open to the public and welcomes your feedback.

To the disgruntled seniors of the ‘Large Ham Sandwich’ movement: your apathy is not welcome here.
