TO THE EDITOR:
When I came to college, I assumed I had the same mentality of many of the other freshmen. I came here to express myself, to try something different, and do something a little crazy. For me, that was going barefoot. And apart from a few strange looks, no one had a problem with it … No one except the cafeterias on campus.
Whereas a business can refuse to serve you for its own reasons, there is no widespread law requiring shoes. The controversy is made up, which is kind of logical seeing that the bottom of your feet is in no way more dirty than the bottom of a shoe.
So why aren’t you allowed to eat barefoot? Your guess is as good as mine.
