Paul Neebe: Candidate for Chapel Hill Town Council

Neebe is a newcomer

With less than a week until Election Day, The Daily Tar Heel spoke with the Chapel Hill Town Council candidates to discuss major issues facing the town council. Election Day is Nov. 5.

Candidate name: Paul Neebe

Age: 51

Daily Tar Heel: What do you think is the biggest issue facing the Chapel Hill Town Council?

Neebe: Getting a platinum bicycle friendly award from the League of American bicyclists

DTH: You served on the town’s bicycle and pedestrian advisory boards. How does it make you feel that three people were struck and killed last month in as many days on Chapel Hill roads?

Neebe: These accidents are horrible. Ever since I’ve been on the bicycle and pedestrian advisory board, I’ve been advocating for more greenways, off road paths and if not off road paths they should be protected bike lanes, barriers between moving vehicle traffic and bikes.

If we had these measures in place, I believe we could prevent these accidents.

DTH: Why are you the best candidate for the job?

Neebe: I’ve lived here since 1967 and I know the community and I’ve seen it grow. I think I can use that experience to help it grow in the right direction.
