Shanghai Dumpling closed until further notice following early-morning fire

The Chapel Hill fire department serves the Town of Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

The Chapel Hill Fire Department responded to a fire at the Franklin Street-restaurant Shanghai Dumpling at 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, according to a Town of Chapel Hill press release. 

A Chapel Hill Police officer discovered the fire at the backside of 143 E. Franklin St., the statement said. The fire was under control in 20 minutes after 16 firefighters, three EMS personnel and six Chapel Hill Police officers responded to the call.

No one was injured in the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Shanghai Dumpling is closed until further notice, according to the press release.
