Diversity in The Daily Tar Heel is an issue that still persists today and is apparent by the results of our third internal audit conducted in April of last year.

The Data Desk has decided to pursue the topic of community representation in The Daily Tar Heel to address concerns about misrepresentation, distrust and a lack of diversity in our coverage and our staff.

We aim to survey the greater Chapel Hill community to see to what extent these concerns hold true and gain valuable feedback on the shortcomings of our organization regarding diversity and inclusivity. Most importantly, we want to know what our community thinks about us.

Responses will be collected from March 6 to March 24. Afterwards, we will analyze our results and potentially create an article about our findings.
