Mountain man Stephen Mulherin seeks new challenge

Senior cross country runner Stephen Mulherin thrives on challenges. He lived out of his car and climbed mountains during the summer. Now he looks for the next challenge.

First-year linebacker Andre Smith steps into bigger role

After being chewed out by defensive coordinator Gene Chizik this past offseason, North Carolina first-year linebacker Andre Smith has quickly drawn the attention of coaches and teammates in a more positive manner. Smith started at middle linebacker during Saturday's contest against Illinois.

North Carolina women's soccer team pushes the pace

In a 3-1 win against Syracuse on Thursday, the No. 2 North Carolina women's soccer team turned up the heat. With Coach Anson Dorrance making mass substitutions, the Tar Heels ran past the Orange back line for multiple goals.

UNC looks to establish run game against Delaware

Currently averaging over 200 rushing yards per game, the North Carolina football team will look to continue that trend against Delaware. The Tar Heels should be helped by the rainy conditions this Saturday.

Looking Ahead

  • The North Carolina women's lacrosse team will play an exhibition against Winthrop on Friday at 3 p.m.
  • The North Carolina field hockey team will play at home against Boston College on Friday at 4 p.m. before traveling to play Appalachian State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
  • The North Carolina men's soccer team plays at home against Duke on Friday night at 7 p.m.
  • The North Carolina volleyball team plays at Virginia Tech on Friday at 7 p.m. before playing at Pittsburgh on Sunday at 1 p.m.
  • The North Carolina softball team has an exhibition against East Carolina in Raleigh at 10 a.m on Saturday,  and then plays UNC-Greensboro later that day at 3:30 p.m. On Sunday, the team plays an exhibition at Elon at 4 p.m.
  • The North Carolina football team hosts Delaware on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
  • The North Carolina women's soccer team plays at Wake Forest on Sunday at 5 p.m.
