Elijah Hood running with glee

After receiving no more than 16 carries in a game this season, North Carolina running back Elijah Hood received a career-high 21 carries during Saturday's win over Virginia — much to the delight of UNC fans.

Stuart Scott, Hall of Famer

Former ESPN broadcaster and UNC alumnus Stuart Scott died on Jan. 4, and in a tribute on Friday, he was inducted into the N.C. Journalism Hall of Fame.

Whenever Coach Roy Williams asked former and current player this past summer who was impressing during pickup games, junior Isaiah Hicks was the first player mentioned. And in Friday's Blue/White scrimmage at Late Night with Roy, the forward continued to impress.

Taylor Leath shines for UNC

The North Carolina volleyball team traveled for two away contests this weekend, but redshirt first-year Taylor Leath didn't fold under the pressure of playing in front of opposing crowds — tallying 25 combined kills on the weekend.

  • The North Carolina men's golf team will compete in the third and final round of the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate in Greensboro on Monday.
  • The North Carolina men's soccer team faces off against non-conference opponent Northeastern at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
  • The North Carolina football team takes on No. 23 Pittsburgh at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Pittsburgh.
  • The North Carolina field hockey hosts Liberty at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
