Roy Williams said in a news conference Monday that unless the injured ankle of forward Ed Davis makes "significant improvement," Davis will sit out Tuesday night's game at N.C. State. Davis also missed Wednesday's loss against Wake Forest, the third straight defeat for North Carolina.
"If the game had been scheduled yesterday, I would not have played him," Williams said. "He's got to make some very significant improvement from practice yesterday at 2:00 until 9:00 tomorrow night.
"He doesn't feel good about planting the foot, pushing off and going sideways."
The now-unranked Tar Heels will look to avoid falling into a 1-4 hole in the conference. Tip-off is at 9 p.m.
