UNC men's soccer scoreless at halftime against N.C. State

The North Carolina men’s soccer team was held scoreless in the first half on Senior Night against N.C. State.

The teams are tied 0-0 at the break.

UNC junior forward Tyler Engel had several opportunities to put the Tar Heels ahead but couldn’t convert.

In the seventh minute, an Engel header was deflected out of bounds by Wolfpack goalkeeper Fabian Otte.

Later in the half, with Otte out of position, Engel couldn’t get a solid hit on the ball and the Wolfpack cleared the ball.

With less than two minutes in the half, the Wolfpack mounted its best chance against goalkeeper Brendan Moore with a shot from inside the box that required Moore to punch it away.

N.C. State striker Holden Fender then collected the rebound and fired a shot that caromed off Moore and out of play.

Both teams entered halftime with five shots.

Seniors Josh Rice, Chipper Root and Alex Walters were honored before the game for their career contributions to the program.
