Best music videos of 2015

After hours of watching this year's greatest music videos, we decided these were the seven most important.

"Hotline Bling" — Drake

"Hotline Bling" is undoubtedly Drake’s best music video. Ultimately it’s just a 5 minute long compilation of Drake’s signature dance moves, which was clearly destined to be a masterpiece probably before it was even released. Hotline bling, with valid reason, won over the hearts of social media pop culture enthusiasts, and kind of became Twitter’s National Anthem. From the general public adopting his dance moves, to making halloween costumes and everything in between. Drake’s Hotline Bling video totally earned its rightful spot as one of the best music videos of 2015.

"Bad Blood" — Taylor Swift

After weeks of anticipation fueled by teasers from Taylor Swift and her “squad” the Bad Blood music video premiered on the Billboard Music Awards. And as Drake would say Nothing Was the Same after that. Simply because It featured huge stars like Selena Gomez and Kendrick Lamar as characters in a phenomenally put together short film like illustration of the songs lyrics, showing a different and far more edgy side of Taylor Swift. When has anyone else ever?

"Sugar" — Maroon 5

Maroon 5 win our hearts yet again with a total tear jerker, also known as, the Sugar music video. Sugar is a POV video of the group members of Maroon 5 crashing weddings and doing surprise performances. Honestly, I can’t think of a better way to spend a few minutes of your day, than watching the genuinely surprised faces of the brides and grooms as Adam Levine changes their entire life with one note.

"Blank Space" — Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift scores yet another video with one billion views with the premiere of Blank Space. The music video creatively lives up to all the expectations created by the song’s success, with its Great Gatsby feel and perfect yet humorous illustrations -- including a crazy girlfriend and a boyfriend that’s a little too comfortable, battling it out to see who can last the longest.

"Uptown Funk" — Bruno Mars

In my opinion, the absolute collaboration of the year, Uptown Funk with Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson, of course come together for one of the best music videos of the year. Mixing everything you loved about the 90s with humor and the best of Bruno Mars (including him in a hair salon… surprising? Yeah I know!) all in one video.

What Do You Mean — Justin Bieber

Comeback kid Justin Bieber surprises us once again with his new and improved image in the What Do You Mean music video. Justin shows a different more sexual side of him with model Xenia Deli as they act out the simple but catchy lyrics of the song. Sticking to his roots in the video Justin displays his repeated love for models, skateboarding, and taking his shirt off. What Do You Mean you haven’t watched it yet?

The Night is Still Young - Nicki Minaj

The Night is Still Young music video took the summer by storm, with its fun and completely pop oriented atmosphere. The music video shows a variety of dancers and characters simply enjoying themselves in the midst of a colorful night (but how could they not be, when they’re next to Nicki Minaj???), and living life to the absolute fullest. Since it the music video debuted in May, it made for the perfect start to the summer, and certainly marked its place as one of the best music videos of the year.
