Playlist: Good morning

You did it. You said you wouldn’t, and then you did. You signed up for an 8 a.m.

Somehow, you need to motivate yourself to get out of bed. Luckily, we’ve got you covered with this good morning playlist. There’s no way you’ll stay in bed after hearing these songs.

1. “Brothers in Arms” from the Mad Max score

This music is perfect for everything from waking up in the morning to riding a stolen 18-wheeler through a post-apocalyptic desert. Either way, it’s guaranteed to make getting ready ten times more exciting. Also, Mad Max was recently nominated for ten (Count ‘em, ten) Oscars, so it’s #relevant.

2.“Carolina Calling” by Mipso

Did you know all the members of Mipso went to UNC? It’s true! And look at them now! This band is living proof that everybody (yes, even you) can make it through 8 a.m. classes at UNC alive. “Carolina Calling” is upbeat and folksy and will inspire you to love the University even when you’re most determined to hate it (a.k.a. when you’re trekking across campus at 7:53 a.m.)

3. “Texas” by Magic Man

This song is poppy and energetic — perfect for forcing you out of bed in the morning. Also, Magic Man is coming to Cat’s Cradle in April! Daydream about Friday night concerts as you shotgun Red Bull and stuff the book you frantically check the syllabus for all the homework you forgot to do.

4. “All Star” by Smash Mouth

Is there anything more inspiring than the sweet sounds of the "Shrek" soundtrack first thing in the morning? Of course not. All jokes aside, this song is seriously uplifting. Who’s an all star? You are!

5.“Formation” by Beyoncé

Do it for Queen Bey if for nothing else. Her newest song is just as #flawless as everything else she does. Listen to it on repeat and get yourself ready for her world tour (Heads up- she’ll be in Raleigh May 3).
