How to avoid the common hazards of spring

Well ladies and gentlemen, it looks like the weather has finally realized that it is, in fact, spring and not winter. Granted, we all know North Carolina weather to be a tease. Nevertheless, I’m feeling optimistic.

Here are 10 things to remember:

1. Watch out for cyclists. It was only about six months ago that a cyclist nearly took my life at the intersection of Cameron and Raleigh St. This is serious stuff, folks.

2. Cover up, buttercup. Ladies, make sure that your dresses and skirts A) do not ride up in the back due to backpack scrunching and B) are long enough to keep things PG when you’re on a bike.

3. There are soon going to be more squirrels. Keep your food safe.

4. If you live on south campus, you may want to leave for class a few minutes early so you can take the walk nice and slow. Nobody likes sweat stains.

5. Be careful when walking through the grassy portions of the quad. UNC students love to lay out or nap in the sun. Reading or maintaining eye contact with the hottie across the way may result in injury.

6. Registration is coming up quickly. Find your registration time at Connect Carolina.

7. Guys, a picnic in the Arboretum is the perfect way to a girl’s heart.

8. Recreation is highly encouraged. The tennis grunt is not.

9. That 10% chance of rain could still ruin your upholstery, convertible lovers.

10. Allergy medication and tissues can be purchased at Sutton’s Drug Store or Walgreens on Franklin Street.
