Review: New delivery app brings campus favorites to lazy collegiates

We've all been there. 11 p.m. hits and your stomach starts singing to you. But, like not inspirational American Idol: The Farewell Season singing. More like Mariah Carey Live at Rockefeller Center 2014 singing.

Your mind starts to race: where can I get some sustenance at this hour?

Late night? No, it's basically almost over and you don't wanna annoy the dining hall workers, especially not after the ranch dressing-chicken noodle soup fiasco of fall semester.

Franklin Street? Ugh, who wants to walk 500 miles/risk their life on a P2P for cheesy tots??

Enter EnvoyNow.

The self-proclaimed "official sponsor of the college munchies," EnvoyNow was started in 2014 by four freshmen at the University of Southern California. They offer delivery from restaurants that do not normally have the service in place, such as Sup Dogs and Waffle House.

After expanding the company in 2015 to the University of Wisconsin and Indiana University, EnvoyNow has found its way to the Southern Part of Heaven.

First-year pre-business and public policy major Sachin Bettadapur heard about the delivery company like any B-School prospect would: friends and fraternity.

"One of my friends back home in the Bay Area works with one of the senior expansion managers for EnvoyNow and then right after Thanksgiving Break one of my fraternity brothers who went to school with the CEO and founder sent an email that they were looking to expand to UNC," Bettadapur said.

Bettadapur serves as the campus manager in charge of sales and operations for the UNC branch of the company.

"I work with Nico Krachenfelz and Brandon Ivey who are growth marketing managers. We work as a team basically," Bettadapur said.

A good team always needs more players. The three students reached out to friends to start working as delivery guys. First-year business major Ryan Clinton was one of them.

"They told me about how I could schedule my own hours and make some money, so I figured it could fit my school schedule and it would be a good call," Clinton said.

Delivery guys, or Envoys as they are called, have a pretty cut and dry job — they get a notification when a student orders, go to the restaurant, pick up the food and bring it to the customer by car or bike.

But, something unique about EnvoyNow is that they can bring food to very specific locations.

That's right. If you want a McPick 2 brought to your seat in that super long and boring Chem lecture, EnvoyNow can deliver.

I had a very positive experience with this service and highly recommend it to any lazy collegiate out there who ever wants bacon cheese fries in the heat of the night.

Download their app for free from the App Store and enjoy!
