Six ways to transform ordinary snacks with a waffle iron

Waffle: (v) to stick whatever you want into a waffle iron and see what happens.

Today I spent the rainy afternoon inside the bottom floor kitchen of Craige, bent over a waffle iron while jamming out to Jon Bellion and The Chainsmokers. Here are the results of my experiments (good and bad).

A ham and cheese sandwich is made way more awesome when you waffle it.

Pro tip: make sure to use thick bread and don't squish it too hard!

Classic peanut butter sammies taste much better waffled! Crunchy on the outside, but warm and gooey on the inside.

Pro tip: this is super basic, so you can add anything to it — like chocolate chips, honey, jelly, bananas or Nutella!

Grilled cheese. 'Nuff said.

Pro tip: don't worry about the cheese that leaks out of the sandwich, it pops right off and coincidentally tastes delicious, which led to my next creation.

Waffled cheese is crunchy and possibly one of the best things I've ever eaten!

Pro tip: don't try and pry off the cheese with your fingers! Use a small spatula or tongs instead. This prevents burnt fingers...trust me.

We experimented with mac and cheese, but it didn't work out so well.

Pro tip: paper towels are highly effective in cleaning up mac and cheese.

Yes. Yes, you can waffle donuts into delicious, crispy chunks of heaven.

Pro Tip: everything tastes better with peanut butter on it, especially waffled donuts.

Have you ever felt sad that the cookies at Lenoir or Rams get cold after a while? Yeah, me too. No worries, just pop them into your waffle iron and bask in the scent of oven-fresh cookies.

Pro tip: make sure to use a spatula! These can get messy.
