iOS6 already on over 15 percent of Apple's mobile devices

iOS 6 already makes up over fifteen percent of iDevices.

iOS 6, which Apple officially released to the general public Wednesday, has been downloaded rapidly by a number of people who own iPhones and iPads. Developers had already gained access to the software for their devices over the summer, but Apple has been applying slight updates to the mobile device operating system since then. It was only finalized a week ago.

Users with second-generation iPads or newer can upgrade their tablets to the new system, as can iPhone users with devices which are of the iPhone 3GS model or newer. In order to update the software, one can tap the “Settings” app and then “General,” and finally tap “Software Update,” where the device will check to see if it can download the new software. It is recommended to do this with the phone or tablet hooked up to a power source and with a good network connection.
