Apple released iOS 6, the newest version of it’s mobile operating system earlier today. If you have an iPhone 3GS or up, a 4th gen or later iPod touch or any iPad, you can update through system settings (General > Software Update) or by connecting your device to iTunes.
New features in iOS include a new Maps application with turn-by-turn navigation (warning: the app only includes driving directions, those traveling by foot will have to look to other apps), enhanced Siri capabilities, Facebook integration, Passbook, fullscreen browsing and panorama photos (for iPhone 4S and up. Also included are more Emoji icons, getting us one step closer to complete dependence from words.
You can find a full log of the changes here. Expect a more complete review of iOS 6 early next week.
