David Craven, an art history professor at the University of New Mexico, gives a lecture on Cuban revolutionary art. Craven donated his personal art collection to the Ackland Art Museum.

This is a good example of getting creative with a standard speaker art assignment. Anytime a speaker has visuals, it can really add to the photograph if the visual is graphic and helps tell the story, such as this case. You can get a pretty good idea about what this story is about without reading the caption or story.

More than 50,000 people gathered on Franklin Street Saturday to celebrate Halloween.

This is a good example of how getting access can give you a different perspective on an assignment. This was taken from the roof of Spanky's, and getting on the roof of a place of business isn't always the easiest thing. Talking to people and letting them know what you are trying to photograph can generally get you into places where most people cannot go, which will usually give you a new and interesting perspective.
