Surplus Sids, owned by Barry Keith, or Sid, was the first business in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area to join the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA's energy efficiency program. They made the necessary changes to their building in order to make it more energy efficient, and have decreased their energy use by 70 percent. On Earth Day, which is Sunday, April 22, Sids will be celebrating by holding a Wise Mob where people come out and support the businesses that are part of the energy efficient program through the YMCA. According to Keith, national media will be present at the event. This is also Keith's 25th year of Surplus Sids, so he will be celebrating that this weekend as well (I think on Earth Day).
