Kal Caviness, also known as K.A.L., records, produces and mixes his music at his personal recording studio all in the comfort of his own apartment on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020. Caviness, 20, is a third-year studying management and society. He said his mom was the inspiration for his latest single, "New." His parents split up when he was a junior in high school and his mom just recently started dating again. "'New' was actually from my mom's perspective," Caviness said. "It's kind of like she is starting over, and she's moved on. I wanted to give her a song that she can relate to."
