To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage and where personally identifiable information may be requested. *The Information We Collect* This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the Dailytarheel.com Web site. On some pages, you can create an account, make requests, participate in a poll, register for contests, and submit content to the site. Persons who supply us with their telephone numbers online will only receive telephone contact from us with information regarding orders they have placed online or to verify identity for content they wish to be published on the site or in the printed editions of The Daily Tar Heel. Additionally, if you supply us with your postal address online you will only receive the information for which you provided us your address. The Daily Tar Heel is the independent, nonprofit media lab for the University of North Carolina and the communities of Orange, Alamance and Chatham counties.

Since 1893, we have been the community's investigator, advocate and fact-checker.

We are also an independent, nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status, and as we enter our 124th year of operation, we’ll do it in start-up mode.
