Chapel Hill hosts National Co-Responder Conference, emphasizes mental health crisis responders

The third annual National Co-Responder Conference, or CoRCon, was held this week at the Carolina Inn. The event featured keynote speeches and events focused on combining police response with behavioral health specialists. More than 300 professionals from around the country attended the conference, which was hosted and promoted by the International Co-Responder Alliance.

East Chapel Hill High School student announced as finalist in national science competition

Pristine Onuoha, a junior at East Chapel Hill High School, was announced as one of the finalists for the Genes in Space challenge hosted by Boeing and miniPCR bio.  For this national competition, students must design an experiment that relates to an issue about spaceu2019s effect on DNA. The winning proposed experiment will be tested on the International Space Station. Onuoha's proposed experiment would analyze the relationship between stem cell populations and telomere length in the white blood cells of astronauts.
