From the '60s to today, UNC continues growing its relationship with NASA

UNC has had a strong relationship with NASA for over 50 years. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin trained at Morehead Planetarium before embarking on the Apollo 11 mission, and now, the University still provides valuable research, education, experts and more to NASA. One of these experts is Dr. Stephan Moll, a UNC blood research expert who helped NASA flight surgeons treat an astronaut who had a blood clot in space. NASA also shows substantial interest in connecting with UNC students, and the relationship between the agency and the University is continuing to grow.

CAPS petitioned for a new support group for male-identifying and non-binary survivors

UNC Counseling and Psychological Services, CAPS, currently offers multiple therapy groups for women who are survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. However, UNC sophomore Rajeev Dutta hopes to extend this level of support to all members of the UNC community.  1 in 10 men in the U.S. have experienced rape, physical violence and/or stalking by a partner, according to the National Domestic Violence Hotline. Gentry Hodnett, the development and communications director of the OCRCC, said instances of sexual assault can go unreported because individuals do not always feel like they can talk about their experiences.
