ABC stores may open Sundays

Senate Bill 277 proposed earlier this month would allow N.C. Alcoholic Beverage Commissions to have the option to remain open on Sundays, revoking a blue law that has been in place for more than 70 years.

If students have opinions on correcting the state’s budget deficit, they might get their chance to put them to test — in an online game. N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue will release her budget proposal today, but not before she’s given residents the chance to try balancing it themselves.

Freshmen abstaining from alcohol, study ?nds

The Friday night keg party might not be the destination of choice for as many freshmen as before, according to a recent study. Outside the Classroom, a non-profit organization focused on tackling high-risk drinking, found the percentage of freshmen abstaining from alcohol increased from 38 percent to 62 percent since 2006.
