On-foot true crime tour offers look into the 'dark side' of Chapel Hill history

“When you first step into a dorm, it's just a blank room, often cinder blocks, and you've got to actually make it what you want to be,” sophomore Max Nelson said. “And I think that through introducing plants and through dorm gardening, you can really help make that space your own and make it a space that you want to be in.”
Through non-profit Musical Empowerment, UNC students teach music to underserved children in the Chapel Hill-area.
The N.C. Botanical Gardens give tours of the gardens on the second Saturday of every month. Guests saw carnivorous plants, learned about native plants to the area and toured the garden on a drizzly November morning.
The 2023 Piedmont Laureate Dasan Ahanu is helping youth in Durham, Orange and Wake counties find their voices through spoken word poetry. In collaboration with various art organizations, Ahanu launched a spoken word competition for local high school students.
Dingo Dog Brewing Company welcomed an eastern screech owl and a red-shouldered hawk to the brewery on Wednesday.
