UNC's Ramirez makes a statement on the wrestling mat
By Jonathan Carl | February 13North Carolina's Vincent Ramirez is a "mat rat," and it shows. With his 16-point technical fall win against N.C. State's Jalil Dozier, the 141-pound freshman for the North Carolina wrestling team brought his record to 34-6 Saturday. Only heavyweight Spencer Nadolsky, a North Carolina junior ranked No. 12 in the nation, has a better record. Head coach C.D. Mock explains: "What a mat rat is is a kid whose life is basically wrestling. That is what makes him tick," Mock said. "(Ramirez) is the kind of kid we look for to recruit. He's every bit as good as I'd hoped."
