Around an hour after the start of the protest, students occupied the lobby of South Building for more than three hours. The protesters chanted, gave speeches, held moments of silence and read the names of Palestinians killed in the conflict off of long pieces of paper that they held up across the lobby room.
Tj Edwards, chair of the Carolina Union Board of Directors, created an ad hoc committee to advocate for higher student worker pay. The committee hopes to increase student wages in the next fiscal year.
Logan Grodksy said he could no longer justify the expenses that the role of Student Body Treasurer has taken on his life. He is currently working with USG officers within his cabinet to find a qualified successor for treasurer.
According to UNC System policy, students must be assigned to a residence hall that agrees with the sex stated on their official academic record. This policy has made some transgender students at UNC feel unaccommodated and uncomfortable in their living situations.
