Hustler's Larry Flynt defends First Amendment in UNC speech

Larry Flynt loves women, loves pornography and loves his job.Flynt, free speech activist and publisher of Hustler — a hardcore pornographic magazine — was witty and opinionated when he spoke Thursday night to a packed Great Hall in the Student Union on the value of the First Amendment. He was invited for the UNC First Amendment Law Review’s two-day symposium.

If there’s one steadfast rule that all libraries hold above everything else, it is silence.But on Monday night, in the middle of the most stressful time of year, thousands of students are estimated to shatter that rule for a 10-minute dance extravaganza in the lobby of Davis Library that has grown into a semi-annual tradition on campus.

Between extracurricular activities, a job and service hours, senior Jennifer Durham has difficulty fitting in time to see her professors.“Lots of professors have very set office hours. I dance, work and volunteer, so sometimes I don’t have time,” she said.
