Rascal Flatts sticks to formula

MUSICREVIEW Rascal Flatts Me and My Gang 2.5 stars If lead singer Gary Levox were attractive, there's no question that Rascal Flatts would dominate the music charts. The trio has the fan base, the polished sound and, with a new album every two years, the reliable production schedule to compete with any of the top pop acts out there today. The event directly supports 103.5 WCOM-FM, a grassroots community radio station that operates out of Carrboro. Rock the Boat also aims to publicize the local music scene, which many of the event's organizers feel is underappreciated by the University's student body. "It helps to draw the town and the students together," said Jake Baldridge, last year's event president.

History at heart of 'Edward II'

It's epic. It's a spectacle. It even has dancers. Lab! Theatre's production of Bertolt Brecht's "Edward II" is a modern, stylized version of the historical drama, which concentrates on the rise and fall of England's first openly gay monarch. Though the performance centers on the lives of Edward II and his closest companions, the play was written with a primary concentration on production. "It's extreme to all ends . a bombardment of the senses," said senior Kelen Coleman, who plays Queen Anne in the production.
