This game was the highest score at home for the Tar Heels since a 109-44 win over Gardner-Webb in 2011 and the first triple-digit game for North Carolina since scoring 100 at Elon in November 2018.
Coming back from a two-game losing streak in the Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament, the Tar Heels responded by returning to the Dean E. Smith Center to defeat UNC Asheville, 72-53, on Tuesday.
North Carolina’s high number of turnovers allowed for the Bulldogs to score more than the Tar Heels would’ve liked, but that didn’t stop the team from increasing the lead, securing the 72-53 win.

After a victorious home season opener against North Carolina A&T, the Tar Heels traveled to Charlotte to defeat the 49ers 89-33 at Halton Arena on Sunday afternoon; putting their record at 2-0.
Fresh off of a home win against Notre Dame, the No. 7 North Carolina women's soccer team (12-2-3, 5-2-3 ACC) traveled to Coral Gables, where it defeated the Miami Hurricanes (4-12, 1-9 ACC), 4-0. Despite the win, the Tar Heels finished seventh in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The team lost the sixth-place tie breaker, preventing it from reaching the ACC Championships for the first time in program history.
To close out the regular season, the North Carolina field hockey program will travel to Charlottesville, Va. to take on the Virginia Cavaliers before the start of the ACC Championship.
Following a win against Wake Forest on Friday to snap a four-game losing streak, a 3-0 win over Virginia Tech on Sunday wrapped up a successful weekend for the Tar Heels.
The North Carolina volleyball team (13-4, 2-4 ACC) played a competitive game to defeat the Virginia Tech Hokies (9-9, 0-6 ACC), 3-0, in Carmichael Arena on Sunday for its second straight win.
The Tar Heels have started the fall golf season off strong with returning, record-breaking talent on the squad.
